Profile and security
Change your name, picture, email and password, choose a colour theme, turn on two-factor authentication, see where you are signed in, add your billing details and delete your account.
Everything about your account lives on one page. In the dashboard, choose Profile & account in the menu, or press your picture at the top right and then Profile. The page has four tabs: Profile, Security, Email notifications and Activity log.
Your name, picture and details#
On the Profile tab:
- Picture: press Change photo, or the picture itself, and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image of up to 20 MB. It is cut to a square. Remove photo takes it off.
- Full name is required, up to 40 characters. It is the name other people see when you share projects and comment.
- Company, Address, Zip code, Country and Phone number are optional. If you belong to an organisation on the Enterprise plan, the Company field is locked. Your company details also appear on the quotes you print: see print a quote.
There is no save button: your changes are saved on their own a moment after you stop typing, and the card says Saved when they are.
These are your profile details. The name and address printed on your invoices are kept separately, in your billing details.
Measurement units#
The Measurement units card sets how distances and areas are shown in all your projects: Metric, Imperial or Other (local units such as the fanega or the tsubo). Choose the exact units, such as hectares or acres, inside a project: see settings.
Colour theme#
The Appearance card sets how the app looks. Under Theme, pick one of ten themes, such as Classic (the default) or Hi-Vis: each tile is drawn in its theme. Under Mode, choose Light, Dark or System, which follows your device. Both are kept in this browser, also after you sign out.
Change your email address#
- On the Profile tab, press Change in the Email field.
- Type the new address and press . If you signed in more than a few minutes ago, confirm it is you first.
- Open the email sent to the new address and confirm the change.
Until you confirm, your current address keeps working, and a note under the field says the change is waiting. The old address also gets an email about the change, so a change you did not make never goes unnoticed. Its link undoes the change for 7 days: it puts the old address back, signs out every device and, if you sign in with a password, sends a link to choose a new one.
If your organisation only allows its own email domains, the new address must be on one of them.
Confirm it is you#
Deleting your account, changing its email address, making new recovery codes and turning two-factor authentication on or off need a recent sign-in. If you signed in more than about five minutes ago, the app asks you to confirm it is you: type your password, or sign in again with Google. If you use two-factor authentication, type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app too. The change then goes ahead.
Change or reset your password#
Open the Security tab. Sign-in methods shows how you sign in: with an email and password, with Google, through your organisation's single sign-on, or more than one of these.
To change your password, press Change password, type your Current password, then the New password twice (at least 8 characters), and press Save. If you use two-factor authentication, you are then asked for a code from your authenticator app. This button is there only when you sign in with an email and password.
If you have forgotten your current password, use the Reset password card instead: type your email address to confirm it, and press Send reset email. An email with a link to set a new password is sent to your account's address. You can send another after 60 seconds.
If your account has no password yet, for example because you sign in with Google, the same card is called Set a password. Its link lets you choose a password, and you can then sign in with it as well as the way you do now.
Two-factor authentication#
With two-factor authentication, signing in also asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator), so a stolen password is not enough to get in.
- On the Security tab, press Enable next to Two-factor authentication, then Enable again.
- If you signed in a while ago, confirm it is you.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, type the key shown under it into the app, or press Open in authenticator app on your phone.
- Type the code the app shows into Verification code. You can change the Device name so you recognise it later.
- Press Verify.
You then see your Recovery codes. They are shown only once: press Download or Copy, keep them somewhere you can reach without your phone, and press I have saved them. Each code works once.
The Security tab shows how many recovery codes you have left, and warns you when two or fewer are left, with New codes to make a new set.
To see or remove your authenticator, or to replace your recovery codes, press Manage. New codes replaces the whole set after you confirm; the old codes stop working at once. Removing the authenticator turns two-factor authentication off, and your recovery codes stop working too.
See where you are signed in#
Signed-in devices, on the Security tab, lists every browser and device signed in to your account, with its approximate location, when it was last active and when it signed in. The one you are using is marked This device.
- Press Sign out next to a device to sign it out. It is signed out as soon as it is online, within about a minute.
- Press Sign out everywhere to sign out every other device at once. You stay signed in on this one.
Signing out of the app on a device also takes that device off the list.
When your account is used on a device it has never been used on, you get an email about it. If it was not you, change your password and sign that device out here.
Download your data#
The Your data card, on the Security tab, saves a copy of what your account holds as a JSON file: your profile and billing details, subscription, invoices, settings, the list of your projects, products and activity. Press Download my data.
The file does not include the measurements themselves. Export each project for that: see exporting.
Billing details#
Before you can pay for a plan, your account needs a billing address and an identification document. Measure Map Online is sold by Blue Blink One S.L., a Spanish company, and Spanish invoicing law (VeriFactu) requires every invoice to name the buyer with a fiscal identification number and an address. Without them no invoice can be issued, so the checkout waits until they are there.
The billing details are in the dashboard under Subscription > Billing info:
- Under Invoices are made out to, fill in the Business name (your own name if you are not a business), Address and Zip code, and choose your Country from the list. Phone number is optional.
- Billing email is where invoices, receipts and payment problems are sent. Leave it empty to use your sign-in address.
- Press Save.
- Under Identification document, choose the Document type: Tax / VAT ID, Passport or Other / national ID. Type the Document number and press Save.
A company uses its tax or VAT number; a private person can use a national ID or passport number. A Tax / VAT ID is checked against your billing country: if it is refused, check the number and any country prefix, or choose another document type. You can change the document with Edit. If you remove it, you cannot start or change a plan until you add one again.
If the checkout sent you here, press Back to checkout once the details are complete. The checkout opens again as you left it.
Members of an organisation on the Enterprise plan do not need billing details: the organisation pays. See subscription and billing for invoices and payments.
Your activity#
The Activity log tab lists what has been done with your account, newest first, such as a project created or deleted, a password change or two-factor authentication turned on. You can filter, search and export it: see activity log.
Delete your account#
- Open the Security tab and, under Danger zone, press Delete my account.
- Type your account's email address, then type delete my account to confirm.
- Optionally, tell us why.
- Press Delete account. If you have a subscription that is still running, the button says Cancel subscription & delete account.
- If you signed in more than a few minutes ago, confirm it is you.
What happens:
- You are signed out at once, on every device, and you can no longer sign in.
- Your subscription is cancelled and you are not charged again.
- 14 days later, your profile, projects, pictures, products and settings are erased. That includes the projects you shared with other people: they lose them too. Projects other people created and shared with you are not affected; you are only removed from them.
- Invoices are kept, as tax law requires.
- You get an email confirming the deletion.
If you sign up again with the same email address, it is a new, empty account: nothing from the old one can be linked to it.
If you own an organisation on the Enterprise plan, remove or unlink its members first: the account cannot be deleted while it has members. See members and roles.
If you are a member of an organisation, every project you created is deleted with your account, the work you did for the organisation included. Ask an Admin to transfer what it needs to keep first. If the organisation's policy requires that transfer, your account cannot be deleted until it is done.
