Subscription and billing

See your plan and next payment, follow Open Guest usage and budget, change Enterprise seats, manage cards, get invoices, change plan, pause or cancel, and fix a failed payment.

Your plan and everything you pay for is in the dashboard under Subscription. It has these sections: Overview, Usage & budget (Open Guest only), Seats (Enterprise only), Payment methods, Invoices and Billing info. They appear in the menu while you are in the Subscription page; on a phone they are tabs at the top.

Members of an organisation do not see this page: the organisation's owner pays for everyone.

If a partner pays for your plan, this page says who pays instead: see Partners.

Overview#

The Overview shows:

  • your Current plan, its price, any discount running on it, and its state, such as Active, Trialing, Paused or Past due;
  • the current billing period, with the days left and the date it renews or ends, the billing cycle, the currency and the card that pays;
  • the Upcoming invoice: how much will be charged and when, line by line, with any discount and tax, and any credit on your account that will pay part of it;
  • the Subscription history, one entry per change: when you subscribed, changed plan or seats, paused, cancelled, or a payment failed.

Anything that needs you, such as a failed payment or missing billing details, is shown at the top with a button to fix it. The buttons under the plan are Subscribe, Change plan, Pause billing and Cancel subscription, depending on your plan and its state.

Usage and budget (Open Guest)#

On the Open Guest plan, Usage & budget shows This period: the Guest projects created by your visitors and the Bill so far, which includes the monthly fee. A chart shows the Guest projects per day.

Under Budget you can set two limits:

  • Budget warning email notification: turn it on and set the Warning budget. You get an email when this period's bill reaches that amount.
  • Budget limit: turn it on and set an amount. When this period's bill would go past it, new visitors are told you are not taking projects. Projects already started keep working, and so do your own.

Press Save. The limit cannot be lower than the plan's monthly fee, and the warning must be lower than the limit.

When the limit is reached, Budget limit reached appears on the Overview, and you get an email and a notification, whatever your email settings. Press Raise the limit to change it, or wait for the next billing period.

Seats (Enterprise)#

On the Enterprise plan, Seats shows how many of the seats you pay for are in use. To change the number:

  1. Use and , or type a number.
  2. Read the note under it: adding seats charges the rest of this period today; removing seats leaves a credit for your next invoice.
  3. Press Update. Removing seats asks you to confirm.

The minimum is 5 seats, and never fewer than the members already using one. Only the organisation's owner can change seats, and not while a payment is overdue. If the page says your seats are changed by our team, contact support.

Turn on Auto-increment users to let the number of seats follow the number of members: when every seat is taken and you add a member, a seat is added and charged, and the member joins once the payment goes through. With it off, adding a member to a full organisation is refused until you add seats.

Payment methods#

Payment methods lists the cards saved on your account. Renewals are charged to the one marked Default.

  • Add a card: press Add a card, fill in the Name on card, Card number, Expiry date and Security code, and press Save card. Tick Charge renewals to this card to make it the default. Your bank may ask you to confirm the card.
  • Change the default: press Make default on another card. If a payment is overdue, it is retried with that card straight away.
  • Remove a card: press . The only card that pays for an active subscription cannot be removed: add another one first.

Card details go straight to Stripe, the payment processor. Measure Map Online never sees or stores them.

Moving from PayPal to a card#

PayPal is no longer taken. If your plan is still paid with PayPal, the Overview and Payment methods show it, with the date PayPal payments end for you, and you get an email about it and a reminder a week before.

Press Switch to a card before that date. Nothing changes until the period you paid with PayPal ends: your card is first charged then, and your PayPal payments stop. If you do not switch, PayPal is not charged again and your plan ends on that date; press Subscribe with a card to keep it.

Invoices#

Invoices lists every invoice with its plan, date, payment method, total and status. Press View invoice to open an invoice in a new tab.

  • When there are invoices from more than one year, choose a year to see only that year. The Total paid follows what is shown.
  • Invoices for a zero amount are hidden; press Show zero-amount invoices to include them.
  • Press to save the list as a spreadsheet (CSV).
  • A refund is shown under the invoice's total. An invoice whose payment failed has Fix payment method beside it.

Invoices are issued by Blue Blink One S.L. with the name, address and identification document in your billing details. Each payment also sends a receipt by email to your billing email address.

Billing info#

Billing info holds who your invoices are made out to and your identification document. They are required before you can pay, because every invoice must identify the buyer: see billing details.

Change your plan#

Press Change plan on the Overview. The checkout opens on your current plan; pick another plan, billing period or number of users. The Summary shows, before you confirm, exactly what happens:

  • The new plan is charged for the rest of the current period, less a credit for the unused time on your current plan. What is left is charged today.
  • Switching between monthly and yearly starts a new billing period today, with the unused time on your current plan credited against it.
  • If the credit is more than the charge (a cheaper plan), the rest stays on your account and pays towards your next invoices.
  • Open Guest is billed at the end of each month, so moving to it does not charge the new plan in advance.

A discount code can be added here too: see choose or change a plan.

Press the button at the bottom of the summary to confirm. The change applies as soon as the payment goes through. Until then, a plan or seat change waiting for its payment is shown at the top of the Overview, with a button to pay it. If it is not paid by the date shown there, for example because your bank asked you to confirm the payment and you did not, the change is dropped and your plan stays as it was.

Pause billing#

If you do not need Measure Map Online for a while, you can pause billing instead of cancelling.

  1. On the Overview, press Pause billing.
  2. Under Resume billing, keep When I resume it myself, or pick one of your next renewal dates (up to a year ahead, or two on a yearly plan). Billing then restarts by itself on that day.
  3. Press Pause billing again.

While billing is paused:

  • Nothing is charged.
  • You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, the app is locked until you resume.
  • On Open Guest, your guest link stops accepting visitors at once.
  • Your projects and settings stay as they are.

Press Resume at any time. The app first says what it costs: within the period you paid for, billing carries on and nothing is charged; once that period has ended, a new one starts that day and is charged at once.

Pausing is available on active subscriptions paid by card. An organisation with members cannot pause.

Cancel your subscription#

  1. On the Overview, press Cancel subscription.
  2. If you are offered to pause instead, press Cancel anyway to go on.
  3. Optionally, tell us why, and press Cancel subscription again.

Your plan stops renewing. You keep full access until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing more is charged. Until that date, the Overview shows when the plan ends and a Keep my subscription button that undoes the cancellation at no cost.

On Open Guest, your guest link keeps accepting visitors until that date. The month's guest projects and the monthly fee then go on a final invoice.

When the plan has ended, your projects stay in your account, and you need a plan to work on them again. An organisation's owner must remove its members before cancelling.

When a payment fails#

If a renewal is declined, the Overview shows Payment failed, you get an email, and the bell shows a notification with Update card. The card is tried again over the next few days; if it keeps failing, the subscription is suspended.

To fix it, press Fix payment method, then make another card the default or add a new one. The overdue payment is retried straight away, and a message tells you whether it went through. To try the same card again, for example after topping up the account, press Pay now.

If the first payment of a new plan was not completed, the Overview shows Your first payment was not completed, with the same two buttons. The plan starts once the payment goes through; if it stays unpaid, the subscription is cancelled within a day.

If your bank needs you to confirm a payment (3-D Secure), the notification shows Confirm payment: press it and complete your bank's check.

You also get an email a month before your card expires, if it expires before the next payment. For declined cards at checkout, see troubleshooting.
