Privacy and cookies

What Measure Map Online stores in your browser and why, how to accept or refuse analytics and change your mind later, how long your data is kept, and where to find the privacy policy and terms.

Measure Map Online keeps a few things in your browser so that it works: your sign-in, your settings, your cookie choice. With your permission, it would also use Google Analytics to count visits and see how the app is used. That permission is the only thing the cookie banner asks for, and analytics is off until you say yes.

The first time you open the app, a banner asks for your choice:

  • Reject optional: only what the app needs is stored. Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
  • Accept all: Google Analytics is used as well.
  • Customize: see each kind of storage and decide for yourself.

Your choice is kept for 12 months, then you are asked again. You are also asked again if the cookie policy changes, for example when a new kind of cookie is added.

The cookie banner, with Reject optional, Accept all and Customize

Nothing is asked in a map embedded on another website: there, nothing optional runs at all.

Change your choice later#

Open  Cookie settings from any of these places:

  • the dashboard's menu, at the bottom, next to the language and theme (see the dashboard);
  • the dashboard's About page;
  • inside a project you can edit, the  Settings panel, in the General card (see settings);
  • the sign-in page.

Turn Analytics on or off and press Save my choices, or press Reject optional or Accept all. Turning analytics off switches it off at once and deletes the cookies it stored.

Cookie settings: the three kinds of storage and the analytics switch

What is stored and why#

Strictly necessary, always on:

  • your sign-in, so you stay signed in;
  • an identifier for this browser, so it can appear in your signed-in devices and be signed out from elsewhere;
  • your cookie choice;
  • when you use a business's guest link, the project you started, so you can continue it;
  • on the payment page only, what carries you securely to it, and Stripe's cookies for fraud prevention.

Your preferences, always on, and stored only on your device: your theme and language, your map and measuring settings, your recent map searches, and the name you gave when commenting without an account.

Analytics, only with your consent: Google Analytics cookies that count visits and how features are used. They are aggregate statistics, not linked to your account.

The cookie policy lists every item by name, with who sets it, why and for how long. It is also linked from the banner, the cookie settings, the About page and the sign-in page.

Privacy policy and terms#

  • The Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed, why, and your rights over it.
  • The Terms and Conditions are the terms of the service and of your subscription, including cancellation and refunds.

Both are also linked from the dashboard's About page, and the checkout links the terms before you pay. Measure Map Online is provided by Blue Blink One S.L., Castellón, Spain.

Your data and your account#

How long data is kept#

Your projects and settings are kept while your account exists. Some things are kept for a set time:

  • A deleted account is erased 14 days after you delete it. Invoices are kept as tax law requires.
  • A deleted project stays in the trash until you delete it permanently. See delete a project.
  • A deleted comment is kept for 30 days, so that it can be put back, then erased.
  • A device stays in your signed-in devices until 90 days after it was last active.
  • Notifications are kept for 180 days.
  • The link that undoes a change of your sign-in email works for 7 days.

The Privacy Policy lists every period.
