Signing in and creating an account
Sign in with your email or Google account, create an account, reset a forgotten password, use two-factor authentication, and sign out.
You sign in to Measure Map Online at app.measuremaponline.com. The sign-in page offers two ways in: your Google account, or an email address with a password.
The page opens in your browser's language. To change it, use the language list at the top right of the page; the button beside it switches between the light and the dark theme.
- Type your Email and Password. Press in the password field to see what you typed.
- Press Sign in.
Or press Continue with Google and choose your Google account in the window that opens. If your browser blocks pop-up windows, the page says so: allow them for the app and try again.
After signing in you arrive on the dashboard, or on the page you were trying to open, such as a project someone shared with you.
If something is wrong, a message above Sign in says what to do. The ones you are most likely to see:
- That email and password don't match. Check them and try again. Capital letters count: the page warns you when Caps Lock is on.
- There's no account with this email. Check it, or create an account.
- This email already signs in another way. Use the one you chose before. For example, you signed up with Google: press Continue with Google, or set a password to sign in with one as well.
- Too many attempts. Wait a few minutes and try again, or reset your password.
Create an account#
- On the sign-in page, press Create an account.
- Fill in Full name, Email, Password and Repeat password. Company is optional. The password needs at least 8 characters; the bar under it shows how strong it is.
- Press Create account.
Creating an account starts a 30-day free trial. You are not charged unless you choose a plan and add a payment method. See plans.
The app then sends you an email to confirm your address, and shows Verify your email:
- Open the link in that email.
- Come back to the page and press I've verified my email.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, or press Resend email to send it again (once a minute: the button counts down). To start again with another address, press Use a different account. Our welcome email follows once your address is confirmed.
Forgot your password#
- On the sign-in page, press Forgot your password? under the password field.
- Type your Email and press Send reset link.
- The page shows Check your inbox. Open the link in the email you receive and choose a new password.
If the email does not arrive, press Resend email once the minute is up. Back to sign in takes you back to the sign-in form.
The link works for every account. If you signed up with Google or your company's sign-in, you have no password yet: the link sets one, and you can then sign in either way.
To change your password, or set one while you are signed in, go to Profile & account, tab Security, in the dashboard. See profile and security.
Two-factor authentication#
If you turned on two-factor authentication for your account, signing in takes one more step after the password, Google or your company's sign-in:
- The page shows Two-step verification.
- Open your authenticator app and type the 6-digit code it shows for Measure Map Online. The code is checked as soon as you type the sixth digit, or press Verify.
If the code is refused, check that your phone's clock is right and use the newest code. Back to sign in cancels the sign-in.
You turn two-factor authentication on and off in Profile & account, tab Security, where the app also gives you a set of recovery codes. See profile and security.
Lost your phone#
If you no longer have the authenticator app, sign in with your email and password as usual, then:
- On the code screen, next to Lost your device?, press Use a recovery code.
- Type one of the recovery codes you saved when you set up two-factor authentication, and press Continue.
- Two-factor authentication is turned off. Sign in again with your email and password, then set it up again on your new phone.
Each recovery code works once. A recovery code is checked together with your password, so it cannot help an account that has none (one that signs in only with Google or a company sign-in). In that case, or if you have lost both your phone and your recovery codes, contact support.
Single sign-on#
Some organisations on the Enterprise plan have their members sign in through the company's own identity provider. Your organisation gives you a sign-in link or a sign-in code:
- A link: open it. The page names your organisation; press the button that continues with its name, and sign in on your company's page.
- A code: on the sign-in page, press Sign in with SSO, type the code (or paste the link) in Company sign-in code or link, and press Continue.
Sign in another way takes you back to the usual sign-in. See policy and single sign-on.
Staying signed in#
You stay signed in on a browser until you sign out, so you can close the tab and come back later. In the dashboard, Profile & account, tab Security, lists your Signed-in devices and can sign one out from a distance: that device then returns to the sign-in page. See profile and security.
Sign out#
- On the dashboard: press your picture at the top right and then .
- In the map editor: press Menu at the top left and then .
Confirm with Yes. Signing out takes this device off your Signed-in devices, and clears what this browser remembers for you, such as your recent searches and the options saved on this device. Your language, theme and cookie choices stay, and so do the settings saved to your account, such as your units. See settings.
