Partners

Pay for and manage other accounts' plans as a partner, or see who pays for your plan when a partner does.

A partner is an account that pays for other accounts' plans and manages them: an agency, a reseller or a firm that looks after its clients' subscriptions. Each client keeps their own account and projects; the partner pays for the plan and makes every change to it.

Partner accounts are set up by our team. To become one, email us.

For partners#

Your clients are in the dashboard under Clients. The list shows each client, their plan and where it stands: invited, starting, active, ending or behind on payment. Clients and invitations that are over are folded under the list.

With more than five clients you can search the list, show only the clients in one state, and change the order. Each plan shows what it costs you after your discount, and the top of the page shows about how much they all cost a month, before tax. downloads the list as a spreadsheet (CSV).

Your account needs no plan of its own to be a partner. When your trial ends you can still invite and manage clients; a plan is only for your own projects, which are read-only without one.

Your card#

Your clients' plans are charged to your default card, under Subscription › Payment methods. You cannot invite anyone until a card is there.

  • While a client's plan runs on it, your only card cannot be removed.
  • When you make another card the default, any client renewal that went unpaid is paid with it straight away.

If you have a partner discount, it comes off every client's plan.

You also need your billing details, with your address and tax ID, under Subscription: your clients' invoices are made out to them.

Invite a client#

  1. Press Invite a client.
  2. Enter their email address and choose the plan. For Enterprise, choose the seats: at least 5, and one for each member of their organisation. For Open Guest you can set a monthly budget limit.
  3. Press Send invitation.

They get an email with a link to the invitation, open for 14 days. From the menu on its row you can send it again or withdraw it.

When they accept, their plan starts and is charged to your card. If they already pay for a plan of their own, it is set not to renew, and yours starts when it runs out: until then the row says Starting. Withdrawing at that point lets their own plan renew as before.

You get an email when an invitation is accepted or declined.

A client who hasn't answered three days before the invitation expires gets a reminder. If it expires unanswered, you get an email.

While a client's row says Starting, Start now in its menu starts your plan for them today: their own plan ends now, and the time it paid for and hasn't used is credited to their account.

Manage a client's plan#

Click a client to open it. You can:

  • Change plan: pick the new plan, and the seats for Enterprise. Before you confirm, it says what the change costs today.
  • Change the seats of an Enterprise plan.
  • Set the monthly budget limit of an Open Guest plan.
  • Pay now, when a renewal was not paid.
  • See the invoices you paid for this client, and open each one.
  • Stop paying: the plan runs to the end of the period paid for and is not renewed. Until then you can Keep paying.

If your bank asks you to confirm a payment, it does so right there.

An Open Guest budget limit can't be under the plan's fixed monthly fee. You can pay for one Open Guest plan at a time, your own included: guest projects are metered on your account as a whole.

Your client gets an email when you change their plan or its seats, or keep it after stopping it. It says what changed, never what it costs.

Invoices and emails#

Each client's plan has an invoice of its own, made out to you. They are also on your Invoices page, each one naming its client. Receipts and failed payments for clients' plans are emailed to your billing address.

Your clients get no billing emails from us and never see invoices or amounts: you charge them your own way.

On your Invoices page you can show one client's invoices, or only those of your own plan.

If our team stops your account being a partner, you can't invite anyone new and open invitations close. Take-overs that haven't started are withdrawn, and those clients' own plans renew as before. You still see your clients, and you can manage and stop the plans you pay for.

For clients#

Accepting an invitation#

Open the link in the email and sign in with the address it was sent to. If you don't have an account yet, create one with that address first. The page says who offers to pay, for which plan, and what changes. Press Accept or Decline.

Invitations sent to your address also appear at the top of your Overview, until they expire.

You keep your account, your projects and your data. If you pay for a plan yourself, it won't renew: the partner's plan starts when it runs out, and nothing changes for you in between.

Until the partner's plan starts, your Subscription page says from when they pay. While a partner pays for your plan, or is about to, you can't join an organisation.

Until it starts you can also keep your own plan instead: press Keep my own plan on that page, and the partner is told.

Your subscription#

Subscription shows who pays for your plan and how to reach them. You cannot change the plan, its seats, the budget or the cards: every change is a payment on your partner's card, so your partner makes it. Ask them when you need one.

When your partner stops paying, you get an email: your plan runs to the end of the period paid for. After that you can choose a plan of your own on the plans page, and your projects stay where they are.

The page also shows your seats, or your guest projects this period for Open Guest. If your partner's payment for your plan doesn't go through, your Overview and this page say so: ask them to pay it, or your plan will stop.

You also get an email when your partner changes your plan, or keeps it after stopping it.

Cards you saved for a plan of your own stay under Payment methods: they pay for nothing while your partner pays, and you can remove them. The invoices you paid yourself stay on your Invoices page.
