Sharing a folder
Share a whole folder with colleagues, so they can work on every project in it and on the projects added to it later.
Sharing a folder shares everything in it. The people you add become members of the folder, of its subfolders and of every project inside them, so they can view and edit all of it. Projects added to the folder later are shared with them too.
Share a folder#
- On the Projects page, open the folder's menu and choose Share.
- Under Members, type an email address in Invite emails and press Enter, Space or Tab. Add as many as you need.
- Press Share, then Done.
Only the folder's owner can share it; in an organisation, so can the organisation's owner, Admins and Managers, on the members' folders. The people you add get an email and a notification, and the folder appears on their Projects page with as its icon. The members list shows everyone the folder is shared with, and marks its Owner.
Folders are shared with people only. Unlike a project, a folder has no link and no access level.
What members can do#
A folder's members are members of each project in it, with the same rights as if you had shared the projects one by one: they can open, view and edit them, and see each other's changes as they happen. See sharing a project.
The projects themselves keep their own access level and link: sharing the folder does not make any project public.
Adding projects later#
What goes into a shared folder is shared with its members:
- A project created in the folder, by you or by one of its members, starts shared with everyone in the folder.
- A subfolder created in it has the same members.
- A project or folder you move into it is shared with the folder's members. Moving it from one shared folder to another swaps the old folder's members for the new one's.
Remove someone from a folder#
In the folder's share settings, press next to the person and confirm. They are taken off the folder, its subfolders and every project inside them, and are told by email unless they have turned those emails off.
To give someone a single project rather than a whole folder, share only that project: see sharing a project.
