Customers' private projects
Show your customers' private projects in your embedded maps, view only, once each owner authorizes your account. Ask them by email and see who has answered.
Your embedded maps show any project shared as View only or Public, whoever owns it. A customer's Private project shows only once its owner authorizes your account. One authorization covers all of that owner's private projects, including the ones they create later. They show view only, in your embeds alone, and stay private everywhere else.
Two ways to be authorized#
- From the map. When your map shows a customer's private project, it says This project is private and offers its owner Authorize with your name. They confirm in their own account, and the map shows the project from then on. Nothing to do on your side. See what the owner sees.
- By email. Ask them from the Developer page (below). They get an email and a notification, and press Approve or Decline in their account.
Only the owner can grant it. Owners see you by your organisation, company or website name, never by your email address, together with the websites your live keys allow. Set your keys' website restrictions first, so owners know where their projects will appear. A key without restrictions reads "Any website where they use their key".
Ask for access#
- In the dashboard, press Developer, then Private projects.
- Under Ask for access, type the email addresses of their Measure Map Online accounts in Their email addresses, separated by commas or new lines. You can paste up to 200 at a time.
- Press Send request.
The answer lists the addresses by what happened to each:
- the request was sent;
- the account has already authorized you;
- you already asked it this week: each account can be asked once a week, whatever it answered;
- no verified account has this address;
- it is your own account;
- it isn't an email address;
- today's 500 requests are used up: try again tomorrow;
- it couldn't be sent: try again.
Asking needs a running Enterprise plan.
The accounts list#
Under Accounts, every owner you asked, or who authorized you from the map, shows with their name, email address and how things stand. The card's header counts the owners who have authorized you.
| Status | It means | You can |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting | You asked, and they haven't answered yet. | Withdraw the request. They can no longer approve it, and you can ask again next week. |
| Authorized | Your maps show their private projects. The line says when one was last shown. | Stop showing: your maps show This project is private for them straight away. To show them again, the owner has to authorize you again. |
| Declined | They declined. | Ask again a week after your last request. |
| Stopped | They stopped it in their account. | Ask again, or wait for them to authorize you from the map. |
You get a notification when an owner authorizes you, declines or stops it, and an email when they authorize you or stop it.
What shows, and where#
- Only with your Live keys. Sandbox keys never show private projects.
- Never your own private projects: share them as View only.
- Never projects in the owner's trash.
- Only while the owner's plan is running, or for an organisation's projects, the organisation's plan.
- Visitors can comment only when a project lets everyone comment.
When a project can't be shown, the map says why: see when the map shows a message.
